How to play

The table
The Roulette table is designed so that all the numbers, except for the table 0 (and 00 in American Roulette), are arranged in three columns of twelve rows. The first row has 1,2, 3; the second has 4, 5, 6 and so on until you get to the last row which has 34, 35, 36. 0 (and 00) is positioned above the top row. The rest of the table is made up of different boxes that indicate the different bets you can make.

Chips
As Roulette can be played by several people at once and everyone can bet on the same number, a special kind of chip is used which is unique to Roulette. Every player gets their own coloured chips which allows the croupier to distinguish between the players. The chips are changed back to regular casino markers after each play so that the next person can use the colour.

The outcome of the game
When the players have made their bets, it's time to see what the winning number is. The croupier speeds up the wheel, which never stops spinning during the game play, and shoots a small ball, usually made of ivory, around the rim of the wheel against the direction of rotation. The ball eventually loses speed and drops into one of the slots. Bets can still be made while the ball is in motion, until the croupier closes the betting. The slot in which the ball falls is the winning number and the winnings are paid out, after which the process is repeated.
