European Roulette

European Roulette, or French Roulette as it is also known, is played at a table where the numbers go from 0 to 36. This means there are 37 numbers to bet on instead of 38 as in American Roulette. European Roulette thus gives the player a greater advantage than American Roulette. The casino's advantage is just 1/37 or 2.70%.

The wheel

The numbers' placement on the wheel may seem random at first but there is a special pattern. Every other number is even and every other number is odd. The even numbers are black while the odd numbers are red. They are also divided into sectors and positioned so that the sum of one sector is basically equivalent to the sum of another sector. Most of the numbers are also arranged in pairs with one number separating them. When you add these pairs together you get either 37 or 39.
